Rippin & Rollin' on April 19th

Rippin' & Rollin' is back for the first edition of 2025! Come experience an immersive live music & skating event at Skate South (10494 County Line Rd, Des Moines, IA) on April 19th! Bands will perform in the middle of the rink floor, while audience members get to skate around them and enjoy Skate South’s surround sound PA and lighting system, or witness it all from the fully-amplified standing/seating area. This edition will feature performances from Lady Revel and Toon Smokes, with dance jams before, after, and in-between. There will be a photo booth by Annick Sjobakken, so dress in your finest skate/music show attire. Doors will open at 8:45, tickets are $18 in advance/ $22 day-of-show. Ages 18 and older, or younger teens must be accompanied by an adult.

Derry & the Dirty Dishes album release show on May 3rd at xBk

Derry & the Dirty Dishes is a new Des Moines rock & roll band for kids and grownups alike. Fronted by Derek Muse Lambert, their debut album Three Day Weekend is full of fun and playful songs written by Derek and his wife Ramona Muse Lambert. Join us May 3rd at xBk for a kid-friendly, morning album release party. Doors open at 10am, with DJ Kitty Cat Twins playing kid favorite dance hits, then Derry & the Dirty Dishes will go on at 10:30am sharp, to cater to low attention spans and patience levels, and we’ll have you home before lunch and nap time. Note: hearing protection is recommended for little ones. While we’ll do our best to keep volume at a kid-friendly level, this is a full rock band with drums and guitars.
